Three Angels is one of many choral collaborations between lyricist Garth Bardsley and composer Ben Parry. The jaunty, irregular 5/8 meter conjures up the excitement and joyfulness of the approaching Christmas season. The six stanza poem, with exclamatory Latin interjections, is a cunning acrostic spelling out the first names of the lyricist and his family. The anthem was first performed by Aldeburgh Voices at Snape Maltings Concert Hall in December 2010 under the direction of the composer.

Three Angels was performed by the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge in Carols from King’s, broadcast on BBC Two, Christmas Eve 2012.
